Canadian Crosstrek Adventures

  • I heard that in places like Arizona that you could fry eggs on the sidewalk when it got too hot out. We were expecting a 34C day in my part of the country and it got me thinking… what if I used my car as an oven?

So I made a batch of mini-egg cookie dough before going to bed. In the morning I put a little tray out with six cookies in the dash of my car and positioned my car to face the sun all day. Left for work in the company truck and let nature do its thing!

Came home, and they LOOKED like cookies. Opened the driver door, and it smelled like humid cookies – it was a little weird, not going to lie. But when I picked up the first cookie and the top was hard, like crunchy hard, I thought, “oh my gosh this actually worked!”.

    LO AND BEHOLD

The texture was a crunchy top (definitely cooked), and a chewy center/bottom! I couldn’t believe it. So the answer is yes. You can totally bake cookies in your Crosstrek.

Check out the insta reel I made about it here.

  • Hello! Welcome to my space of the internet to showcase all the adventures I get up to with my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek WIlderness.

I bought this lovely little unit after the demise of my last vehicle – my old 2014 Jeep Wrangler (RIP, Monty). He suffered an unfortunate visit from mice while hibernating for the winter 😦

Since then (March 2024) I’ve put on 46k km on the Subaru lovingly known as Duke. He’s taken me on road trips to South Dakota, across the province, and visiting neighbouring provinces a few times now. You’ll have to come back later for my Top 5 Reasons why I love my Crosstrek.

I intend to put the Duke through his paces across Canada. This will include car-camping, #CrosstrekConfessions, upgrades/mods I want to or have made, and some silly side quests. We aren’t just your average pavement princess over here, no, we will be doing some real exploring!
